Oil on canvas, "BASKET OF PEACHES", signed L. W. Prentice lower right, 19th century realist depiction of an overturned basket lush with peaches spilling out onto the grove floor, beautifully rendered rich wit color you just want to reach out and have one of those peaches in your hand before you taste the best peach ever. Levi Wells Prentice was born in 1851 and died in 1935. This work has been professionally relined, comes with an original Sotheby's COA Province and would make an impressive addition to any fine American art collection.
